Karmaloop Hair!

July 10, 2012

Monday afternoons are typically somewhat quiet days in the salon, especially when contrasted with the hustle and bustle of our weekend hours.  It was on one such unassuming Monday that Alex, Julia, Laura, and Jill readied hairdryers, bobby pins, and lipsticks, for the relaxed atmosphere was scheduled to end in a dramatic manner. Within a matter of moments, more than 20 young men and women stepped across our threshold, ready to be transformed (with maximum time efficiency) into runway ready models. They were scheduled to appear in the Karmaloop Boston design student fashion show, and the hour of their call loomed not so far in the distance. Although this unenlightened receptionist may have been a bundle of nerves, such a situation was entirely familiar to our talented stylists. It is in such situations as this that the talent, technical ability, and extreme professionalism of our stylist team are thrillingly utilized. With startling rapidity, hair was teased, curled, pinned, pomaded, braided, and sprayed by Alex, Julia, and Laura (with Betty, the salon manager, zooming around to distribute hairpins and provide backup support). While this went on, Jill calmly applied makeup to the freshly coiffed models. In what seemed like a genuine twinkling of an eye, the models were ready to make their way to the show, leaving our stylists to pack up their supplies amidst the renewed quietude of a Monday evening.

Here is a selection of our favorite looks from this day – please check our Facebook page soon for more images. We hope you enjoy!
