Hair Crush

August 18, 2011

Today is Thursday, also known as the day Project Runway is on!  Ergo, it’s only fitting that I post about how much I love Project Runway contestant Anya Ayoung Chee‘s hair.

Anya Ayoung Chee Hair

If you’re watching this season then you have undoubtedly noticed this self-taught beauty queen from Trinidad and Tobago and, if you’re like me, you’ve totally fallen for her hair.  I love the severity of the super-cropped sides and how they’re juxtaposed with her long curls- it’s like a mermaid mohawk, or something.  Whatever it is, I love it!

Though we have yet to see how much talent this lady actually has when it comes to designing and constructing clothes, I know one things for certain: she has a definite sense of style and so far I’m totally digging it.  Check out this photo of her with her model from a couple episodes ago, when she styled her to essentially look just like, well, Anya!

Anya, Project Runway, HairThough she definitely seems like the kind of designer who projects her personal style into everything she makes and will never break free from her brightly-colored tapestry cocoon (there’s one designer like this every season), I still admire her creativity and I LOVE her model’s  no-clippers-necessary version of Anya’s look.  The braids create the same severity as Anya’s cropped sides while the rest of the hair can be styled for a long look.  This is perfect for all you long-haired beauties out there who want to try this look while still keeping your length!

Do you watch Project Runway?  Who are your Season 9 favorites?  We’d love to know!
