Hot @ Home: DIY Styling Tips

March 4, 2011

Are you in dire need of a fantastic blowout that will last the entire weekend, but don’t have time to make it to the salon?  Well, here are some tips from Danielle that will help you get a salon-sleek blowout right at home.

What you’ll need:

1. Start with towel-dry hair.  Use a palm-full (for long hair, less for short) of Rene Furterer Volumea Volumizing Foam and work it into your hair starting at the root.  Comb through to the ends.

2. Smooth a nickel-sized amount of [magical] Moroccan Oil across your palms so it’s evenly dispersed.  Comb the Moroccan Oil through your hair with your fingers, starting a couple inches from root, through to the ends.

3. With a dryer, begin to dry your hair with your head upside down, concentrating on the roots.  Once it’s about 80% dry, section your hair from ear-to-ear and, with a round brush (the diameter of which is variable depending on the length of your hair and the amount of curl you desire.  Flat bristle brushes also work well), begin to focus your dryer on small sections of hair.  We suggest starting with sections at the nape of the neck and working your way up through the crown. Be sure each section is completely dry before moving to the next one.

4. Immediately after drying the hair at the crown (and while the follicle is still warm!) divide it into four sections and wrap each quarter in a velcro roller.  Again, the size of the roller is variable depending on your desired outcome, but we recommend a three to four-inch diameter.   Leave the rollers in as you continue to dry the rest of your head.  This will ensure that they’ll lift the hair at the root, giving you lots of sexy movement and volume.
You can use bobby pins or small clips to secure the rollers.

5. Remove the rollers and spritz with a light hairspray.  Then, for extra glamour, smooth a dollop of Oribe 24 K Gold Pomade (the most decadent product in all the world!) between your thumb and index finger and apply it along the length of small sections of hair for dimension and sparkle.

Et voila, weekend-ready hair!  Now, go and enjoy yourself!  TGIF.
